Children today are noticeably different from previous generations, and the proof is in the news coverage we see every day. This site shows you what’s happening in schools around the world. Children are increasingly disabled and chronically ill, and the education system has to accommodate them. Things we've long associated with autism, like sensory issues, repetitive behaviors, anxiety and lack of social skills, are now problems affecting mainstream students. Blame is predictably placed on bad parenting (otherwise known as trauma from home).
Addressing mental health needs is as important as academics for modern educators. This is an unrecognized disaster. The stories here are about children who can’t learn or behave like children have always been expected to. I like indirect ways of making a point.
Indirect ways of sowing a seed that may germinate into curiosity that may turn into a journey.
Changing people’s minds head on doesn’t work. Collision doesn’t work.
Amelia recently wrote to me about current school enrollment processes in Australia (and I’m sure elsewhere). I wasn’t aware that is had become an investigation into a laundry list of conditions.
As I’ve written before, if you inflame the brain, even slightly, you will end up with a much longer list of conditions than just autism.

If you don't have school aged children, you are probably unaware of how unhealthy Australian children are today.
Please learn about the scale of the problem and please start telling other people about it. You will be amazed. The people you tell will be amazed. They may wonder why things are so different today to when their children were young or to when they were children.
Everyone wants to nurture and protect babies. Without even mentioning the V word we can set people on a journey of discovery. If people recognise the scale of this social and financial problem, they will start asking questions about why it has occurred and what can be done about it.
Who would have thought mainstream private schools now ask searching questions about mental disability of prospective students?

Who would have thought that an amazing number of Australian children have brain damage and that an amazing amount of money is being spent to support them?
(Australia) One in five children have "disability, developmental concerns"
One in five children in Australia have disability or developmental concerns, according to the Australian Early Development Census.
It seems a staggering number. But it is one of the key statistics that explains why the National Disability Insurance Scheme — 10 years into its life — has exploded in its cost and reached well beyond what was originally intended.
Seventy-five percent, seventy-five percent of NDIS participants under 18 have an autism-related concern.
Five to seven year old boys, 11% of them are now qualifying for NDIS autism packages. It’s a serious issue, and the community needs to have a conversation about who’s responsible.
Medicare data shows the number of people aged under 25 who saw a Medicare-funded paediatrician for a diagnosis or treatment plan for a complex neurodevelopmental disorder, including autism, hit record highs in the October quarter, with nearly 4000 appointments – a 17 per cent increase on the same quarter five years ago.

More than half of NDIS participants under 18 years old have an autism diagnosis, and more than 8 per cent of five- to seven-year-olds are now on the scheme.
Who would have thought that special schools for autism cannot meet the demand for places?

Autism-specific school, Aspect Vern Barnett in Forestville, has expanded to meet increasing demand in the Northern Beaches region
The school had an official relaunch last week following a two year renovation, increasing its capacity 90 primary school aged children.
“More than 1,650 people in the immediate LGA and surrounding suburbs are diagnosed Autistic, and we are pleased to play a role in supporting their journey,”

My experience is you are right that people can't be changed head-on, especially once you mention the V-word. I think fear of illness is a big part of it, and a world without vaccines is very frightening to them.
Have you thought that maybe "planting seeds" doesn't work either? I think it's an excuse for cowardice. It's time to speak the real thing - don't just save V for Vax say the word you mean. Why pussy foot around it? The children are being harmed, badly and prevalently, and we're going to play around so we don't upset anyone? Let's say what it is - the vaccine is debilitating our children and ourselves. The vaccines must be stopped so we can have the chance to be healthy. The amount of neurological damage is in our faces but many of us saw this coming - look at the immense number of these poisons parents are allowing into their children - and they don't have a clue - you know why? Because the media and the schools tell them the vaccines are safe and everyone who knows they aren't are saying either nothing or "planting seeds".
