If I ever want to make my wife roll her eyes, and pull rank with my “medical credentials”, I just remind her that I’m a partial dentist, 60% to be precise, for I did 3 of a 5-year Dentistry degree in Iraq before I left in 1991. A bit more on that later.
As I have awakened and meandered within the rabbit warren of medical malfeasance, I didn’t come across anything dental until I came up to speed on fluoride and realised that the capture of American dentistry was crucial in getting American and then global acceptance for adding that toxin into our water. That was the first time I bumped into dental corruption.
Then I heard Thomas Levy talk about his awakening to the connection between mouth and dental hygiene and overall health, plus the importance of Vitamin C from seeing the work of Hal Huggins. I made a mental note to come back to the subject later.
Then a friend sent me a note about his wife’s ill health and recovery:
She has been on her "death bed" for a month. 4 courses of antibiotics (1 intravenous), vision blur, heart palpitations, extreme high pressure. No sign of abscess as tooth had a crown (x-ray can't see through) and dentist did a root canal. No better! She insisted to have tooth removed yesterday, she is now up and about.
He also sent me link to the documentary Root Cause, at which point I decided to pay attention to the subject.
Here is a collection of studies that support all the points made in the documentary.
Having watched the documentary, I can highly recommend it. Made by an Australian with a who’s who of the great doctors in the space, including Dr Thomas Levy. I’ll come back with some thoughts and notes on the documentary a bit later.
Following the Levy thread, I found out that Levy and Robert Kulacz wrote this great book The Toxic Tooth: How a root canal could be making you sick, the book is dedicated:
to George E. Meinig, DDS, FACD (1914-2008), a tireless patient advocate and author of Root Canal Cover-Up
So, that’s where I want to start, with Meinig and his very important book, first published in 1993, Root Canal Cover-Up. This from the forward:
Dr. George Meinig has studied the work of Dr. Weston Price, a meticulous researcher whose work shows how germs become trapped in teeth. When dentists fill the root canal, there are still over three miles of inaccessible, untreated tubules from which these germs can pour toxins into your body. These poisons can affect your heart, kidneys, lungs, eyes, stomach, brain, and countless other body tissues. At times, the germs themselves escape into the bloodstream and are carried throughout the body.
I’d heard of Weston Price but didn’t know anything about him. Turns out he was a dentist and first published on the sins of dentistry and root canals in 1923 (!), yes, 100 years ago!
Meinig came along and revived the work, addressing the cover-up, 70 years later in 1993.
So, what’s the point so far?
Dentistry has been involved in a 100-year cover-up of vital health science that has negatively impacted 100s of millions of lives (over the last 100 years it would be in the billions).
In nutshell, as far as root canals go, by “saving” the tooth, dentists are keeping dead tissue (that is what a dead tooth is) with its miles of bacteria packed “tubules” in the mouth that will slowly “leak” its bacteria and toxins into the body and bloodstream causing all manner of disease. And because they have killed the nerve in the tooth, you won’t feel a thing!
Here are excerpts from Meinig in the preface of his book:
Most dentists, health professionals and individuals who have root canals may be upset when they read the title of my book. It will be especially difficult for dentists who specialize in root canals and are members of the American Association of Endodontics (AAE) to understand why I wrote this book, because they recently conferred honorary recognition upon me and three others. We were the only surviving members present who started the root canal organization 50 years ago.
-
That we succeeded in teaching the value of saving their teeth is no longer a question. The AAE has almost 5,000 members, and last year the use of more than 24 million teeth was extended by root canal therapy.
-
What your dentists may not be aware of is the fact that the bacteria causing the infections to which I refer are not in the root canal itself but are organisms which become locked in the tubules that make up 85 percent of the structure of the dentin.
-
This is not the usual story of a prolonged search for a difficult to find germ or virus which causes a devastating disease. It is an investigative research study about how bacteria become entrenched inside the structure of teeth (in the dentin tubules) and end up contributing to a high percentage of the chronic and degenerative diseases so epidemic in America today.
When the germs which infect one part of the body move to another part this process is called focal infection. Dr. Frank Billings, Dean of the Faculty and Professor and Head of the Department of Medicine, University of Chicago found over 90 percent of all focal infection originate in the teeth and tonsils.
In their escape from teeth, the germs involved act much like cancer cells which metastasize to other parts of the body. The germs migrate throughout the body and infect the heart, kidneys, joints, nervous system, brain and eyes, and can endanger pregnant women. In fact, any organ, gland or tissue can become involved. In other words, root canal filled teeth always remain infected and thus threaten health and life.
-
When you think of the more than 24,000,000 root canals treated last year and the uncountable numbers of them in existence, you will understand why I am exposing the cover-up of this infectious process, and its enormous ill- health implications, which involve millions of people. Your dentist or physician may say this is old stuff, that there is nothing to it, and that antibiotics are able to control all focal infections which come from teeth. However, most dentists and physicians do not realize that antibiotics have no way of reaching the bacteria in the teeth, because they are locked inside the tubules which make up the dentin of teeth. To date, none of the more than 100 drugs used in treating root canals has been capable of penetrating the miles of dentin tubules. Once the root canal filling is placed in the tooth it has proved impossible to reach the bacteria with drugs.
Root canals are big business, and the interest in distorting reality (and science) to preserving it and the careers of its practitioners is clear.
Now let’s look at the documentary Root Cause.
At minutes 9.30 and 21.00 they explain the clear connection between root canals and breast cancer. Yes, you read that right! It was a revelation for me too.
At 27.00 Levy talks about their causality to heart attacks. This from The Toxic Tooth:
In the 1950s, the American Dental Association summarily dismissed Price’s research. Decades later, researchers are again reporting the connection between infected teeth and diseases of the heart. Many heart surgeons today include an oral examination before operating. Since virtually all root canal-treated teeth are infected (see Chapter Three), this presents a serious health risk for all those who are already at risk for heart disease.
The bacteria commonly found in the mouth can cause an aggregation (clumping) of platelets, which can also contribute to the blocking of an artery that can result in heart attack or stroke. In vitro studies have demonstrated that two bacteria species found around the teeth, Streptococcus sanguis and Porphyromonas gingivalis, can cause the clotting of blood associated with heart attack. At the same time, animal studies showed that the presence of these bacteria resulted in dramatic changes in blood pressure, respiratory rate, and heartbeat within 30 minutes of injection into the bloodstream.
-
A substantial body of research now exists that further documents the direct link between dental pathogens and atherosclerotic plaques that lead to heart attack. Researchers have consistently found a wide variety of pathogens and microorganisms in the atherosclerotic lesions in patients with chronic coronary artery disease. Bacterial DNA was found in the atherectomy specimens of 100% of 38 patients with coronary disease. Over 50 different species of bacteria contributed to this DNA presence, and individual plaques typically had between 10 and 15 different bacterial DNAs. In 35 of 38 atherosclerosis patients fungal DNA was found, with each patient typically having from 2 to 9 different fungal species.
At minute 44.35 there is a mention of the connection to prostate cancer.
At minute 55.20 the discussion moves to the problems with most extractions. They are not done properly and cleanly enough leaving behind “cavitations” that fill up with bacteria and toxins also. So, it’s clear that this discussion goes well beyond just root canals, anyone who has had an extraction is at risk of leaks from cavitation.
As the documentary outlines, the pathway to finding out if we have a problem is to first find and sane dentist, or otherwise described as a biological dentist or whole body dentist and get a 3D cone beam x-ray done. This from Levy and Kulacz:
The authors of this book have never advocated the use of any device other than X-rays to diagnose cavitations. As has been shown, 3D cone beam X-ray imaging can now definitively detect cavitations where 2D X-rays might not.
Robert Yoho recently did a great article highlighting the work of Robert Gammal (who studied under Hal Huggins) and his book The Garbage Collector.
Following a root canal, the tooth is no longer living but dead—it becomes a “foreign body.” A tooth is not a stone—it is human tissue. All surgeons know what happens when dead biological materials remain inside people. These are inevitably infected and spread bacteria to new locations. For example, nearly all heart attack artery blockages are infected with the same bacteria that are in the patient’s mouth. Also, inflammatory diseases such as arthritis and other autoimmune conditions often go away when canal teeth are removed.
Gammal editorializes:
Nothing works. The whole procedure is based on illusion from beginning to end. If it were possible to sterilize the tooth, then this problem would not exist. There is a blanket denial that bacteria and toxins escape from the tooth the whole way down the length of the root, and not just through the apex. It would therefore make more sense to take the whole root out and not just the end of it. Fantasy and illusion reign in the minds of endodontists.
NB: This introduction understates the harms of root canals. The rest of this post will document why they should never be performed and why they must be extracted.
This from the Introduction to The Toxic Tooth (Levy and Kulacz):
Small Technicality Hides Overwhelming Evidence
For 12 years we have contended that there is more than sufficient scientific evidence to link root canal-treated teeth and disease. Rather than admitting that the issue is worthy of honest investigation, however, opponents have countered, as recently as 2014, with generic statements like the following:
In 1951 , the Journal of the American Dental Association took the extraordinary step of publishing a special edition reviewing the scientific literature and shifted the standard of practice back to endodontic treatment for teeth with non-vital pulp in instances where the tooth could be saved. The JADA reviewed Dr. Price’s research techniques from the 1920s and noted that they lacked many aspects of modern scientific research, including absence of proper control groups and induction of excessive doses of bacteria. 1 [emphasis added]
Dr. Weston Price, like Dr. Ignac Semmelweis, voiced concern about an accepted procedure that might be responsible for causing disease. Most root canal procedures are performed due to infection already inside the normally sterile pulp and root system within a tooth. Price questioned the accepted notion that current endodontic (root canal) treatment could successfully disinfect an admittedly infected tooth.
To confirm his theory, he conducted meticulous experiments on extracted root canal-treated teeth. In one case, he placed such a tooth under the skin of a rabbit. The rabbit died within four days. He removed the tooth and implanted it in another rabbit. It died quickly as well. Then he repeated this procedure with another 30 rabbits in succession. They all died within four days of subcutaneous placement.
Ultimately, Price would test thousands of teeth for infection and toxicity. His tests clearly demonstrated that:
All extracted teeth previously subjected to root canal treatment still contained pathogenic microbes and toxins.
All of the extracted root canal-treated teeth were impossible to disinfect, even with sterilization methods that cannot be employed while a tooth is still in the mouth.
All of the 32 rabbits noted above died within 4 days after having the same extracted root canal-treated tooth placed directly under the skin.
None of the rabbits that had a non-root canal-treated tooth implanted under the skin showed any ill effects.
These results so convinced Dr. Price of the toxic and infected nature of root canal-treated teeth, he postulated that such teeth, while still in the mouth of a patient, were likely seeding infections and disease in other parts of the body.
Admittedly, some took his theory too far. Some dentists and physicians declared open season on teeth—extracting even vital, non-infected teeth—presuming them to be at the root of virtually every disease. They began to indiscriminately extract all suspected teeth from their sick patients expecting an immediate cure. In some cases, cures were reported. In many others, no post-extraction improvements were seen.
Dental professionals have been quick to highlight this indiscriminate tooth extraction as a way to discredit the entire argument against root canal treatment. But we fail to see how pointing out the reckless, “tooth-jerk” response of some establishes the safety of a root canal-treated tooth. The practice of indiscriminate tooth extraction and the safety of root canal-treated teeth are totally unrelated.
Another common argument fails the logic test as well. Weston Price implanted thousands of extracted root canal-treated teeth under the skin of rabbits. Without exception, all these animals quickly died or developed the same disease as the patients from whom the teeth had been removed. None of the rabbits that had non-root canal-treated teeth implanted ever got sick.
No honest scientist on the planet, after reviewing the findings above, could declare the root canal procedure absolutely safe simply because the researcher failed to use a control protocol adopted after his death. Even if Dr. Price’s techniques failed to meet current research standards, he presented enough damning evidence to justify further testing. Why didn’t the American Dental Association sponsor such testing?
This last story has nothing to do with root canals but is connected with my last year of dentistry at Baghdad University in 1990, before I extracted (sorry, couldn’t resist) myself from Iraq. I wrote it in 2005.
Dentistry and The Ba’ath Party
Baghdad University is a big place. It is actually not one place, but many different campuses sprinkled throughout the sprawling city.
Dentistry was a 5-year degree that I started in October 1988. There were approximately 170 students in my year, about the same number as in each of the other years. What I would find out over time was that for almost everyone there dentistry had not been the first choice. They had all wanted to go to medicine, but you needed about 98 to get into medicine, so this was the 95 to 97 crowd. In my three years at the university before leaving I only ever came across one other student that had dentistry as their first choice.
It was around the end of year two and in year three that I started to consider really applying myself and studying hard as I had discovered that the top four or five students at the end of year five were generally offered assistant teacher roles at the faculty, which meant no army service!
This was significant. Worst case scenario you would go and do a six-month stint of training somewhere and then come back to the university to teach. Now there was real motivation to study and work considering that I was in the top three of my year without really applying myself.
But there was a catch, isn’t there always. It was generally accepted that those teaching positions were reserved for members of the Ba’ath Party. It was very possible that a fair skinned, Christian, non-Baath Party member might easily get overlooked for Comrade Ali.
The Arab Socialist Ba’ath Party was a secular Arab nationalist party that was the brainchild of a Syrian Greek Orthodox Christian (obviously) by the name of Michel Aflaq. It was founded in Syria in 1947 but took full control of both Syria and Iraq in 1968. Ba’ath means resurrection.
It was a violent, soulless, malignant cancer that took hold of Iraq until the recent surgery (as at 2005). Considerable chemotherapy is still required to prevent a “resurrection”.
As a high school student my run ins with the Ba’ath Party were infrequent. They were generally restricted to being hoarded into trucks unless we were able to slip out the back of the school and taken to a pro Saddam or pro war rally. They would generally close several major streets and pour the students and workers that they had managed to collect down one end of the street and shepherd us along all the way to the other end. Rarely could you escape as they had soldiers guarding all the side streets. The more enthusiastic of the crowd would jump up and down shouting, “In soul and in blood we will die for you Saddam”. That was a pretty generic jingle, and once a small section of the die-hards started with that routine you were really obliged to join in otherwise you stood out. There was always the fear that some asshole would come up to you and make a big deal about you not celebrating.
The more cameras, the more likely the jingle.
It was at university that my run ins with the Party started to increase. The recruiters were much more active, those recruited were involved in more meetings. The Party had its version of The Little Red Book, except in their case it was a large, thick paperback with a badly designed cover and pages and pages of pan-Arabic, nationalistic, fascist drivel. In a typical weekly meeting sandwiched between either side of Party updates and notifications of the next rally would be readings and discussions of the contents of that book.
The interesting thing about the Ba’ath Party and its “principles” is that there aren’t any. There is a huge collection of motherhood statements and platitudes but there is no deeply rooted thought or philosophy that pulls at the hearts and minds of its proponents. The majority of the “members” are there because they either want to advance professionally or they just want to stay out of trouble, while the rest, those closer to the middle and the top are there not because they are nationalists or socialists or pan-Arabists, they couldn’t give a shit about any of that, they are there because the Party gives them what they really need. Power.
The power to bully, the power to stave off bullying and in some instances the power to kill. At the very top you have the crème de la crème of the psychopaths in Iraq. Certain systems and structures allow psychopaths to rise to the top. Iraq had such a structure.
It was in my third year at university when the Party came knocking. I was summoned to one of the labs that was shared by the would-be dentists and the would-be doctors. There were four teachers sitting in an arch in one corner of the lab.
“Al Salaam u-alekum”, I said. Peace be on you. The traditional Arabic greeting. I have always wondered why they talk so much about peace. Interesting.
“Wa alekum al-salaam”, and peace be on you, one of them responded. But this was not a particularly friendly crowd.
Why do they talk about peace as if it’s a blanket? I guess they think that it is something that comes from outside of us, “on to” us. As if peace was something external and detached from us. I think “Peace be in you would be better”. Note to self, change On to In.
I sat down in the designated chair about two metres from them, with nothing between us, nothing to protect me or to hide behind.
“What do you think of the Ba’ath Party?” There was no preamble.
“Ahhh…” What else could I say to a question like that. Any answer but the one they wanted to hear, and I could be in a lot of trouble for a long time. They had pens in their hands! Not pencils. This was permanent stuff!
“I think it is a great Party and has done great things for this country.” I said this while focusing on some of the good things, the free education for all, the rich and the poor, all the way through university. The very high literacy levels, free health care, little or no taxes (you can thank the oil for that one, but in that moment, I wasn’t going to get picky with them). After that there wasn’t much else, I could think of do draw enthusiasm for my claims, so I stopped thinking.
“We notice that you are not a member. Why not?”
That was the sticky, messy question I was dreading. How do you answer that? How do you say, “Fuck off”, without getting your head chopped off?
“I don’t believe that I need to be a member of the Party to serve my country, do I?”
Wow, I was good at this. Where the hell did that come from? There was momentary silence as my answer was being computed. Now the pressure was on them to navigate the range of possible answers and come up with something that not only puts the pressure back on me but makes them look both pro party and pro country at the same time. In poker terms, this was a re-raise with nothing. If only I had some dark sunglasses to hide behind.
No one said anything. This was a hard one.
Eventually one of them said, “We will ask the questions and you will answer them, is that understood?”
“Yes”, I folded.
“We would like you to join the Party. The fact that you haven’t so far does not look good on your record.”
“With due respect, no thank you, it’s not for me.”
“Why not?”
Bloody hell, how do I get out of this? It was basically a matter of principle. Nothing else. Becoming a member simply meant agreeing to have my name written down somewhere as a member, there were no fees or responsibilities except for a weekly meeting in some poorly lit room run by a dick not unlike one of the four in front of me now.
That’s all it was, principle. Principle that was quickly going to get me in a lot of trouble. I decided to take a different approach. It wasn’t particularly smart, but it was all I could think of at the time.
“My reasons are private; I don’t feel I need to share them with you. You have asked me a question, I have politely answered and said no, why I say no is my business, not yours.”
Silence again.
“Is that your answer?”
“Yes, it is.”
I was hot, sweaty and very uncomfortable. This meeting had the potential to get very ugly, very fast. What happened next would be crucial.
Two of them started writing things down. Silence. They kept writing. Eventually, they stopped, looked up at me and said, “That will be all…for now.” On leaving I knew this would not be the end of it. Notes were made. Opinions were formed. There would be a second round.
I got the final laugh as that meeting was towards the end of my third year. Once that year’s final exams were over, I hopped on a bus to Jordan, never to return.
The Party brought out the worst and the best in people. Normally the worst.

Hello, U. I came across this same information last summer while going down the health rabbit whole after refusing the mandated injection to maintain my work. Now when I meet people with minor or chronic health issues, I direct them to the resources you have included here. Dr. Mercola has his own story of transformed health after he had a root canal extracted. That was a trigger for him to look more deeply at the history of root canals. And like vaccinations, nothing has been scientifically done to prove that they are actually safe! It turns out that all aspects of Rockefeller 'science-based' health is false at basically all levels.
I don't know if it was my unconscious acting to help me or not, but in 2015 I developed rampaging caries due to being stupid, and wound up losing several of my teeth, including the root canals I'd had.
And thank you for sharing your story of not-toeing the party line. You didn't come out and say point blank how that experience compares to the covidian oligarchy in place. For me, reading between the lines, it seems to me you are suggesting that we are awfully close to the same level of threat to conform.
thank you, very important article. Those microbes form biofilms that cannot be easily penetrated. In my experience, though, these films are easily dissolved by using peroxide.
I saved my mouth and probably my health by doing hydrogen peroxide (dissolved in water) mouthwashes and inhalations. I havent been to the dentist for caries or canals for years.
