I have to say I am suspicious about EFT. Why? Because you 'turn off' your alarm system. We don't want to neutralise our natural response mechanisms..., we want to transform them.

Having said that I can see that EFT can certainly have short-term benefits (like a pressure-release valve on a steam-engine) but I'm not sure how it gets to the real deeper spiritual/psychological causes of illness and over-stress/anxiety.

EFT seems to be based on the belief that the brain produces consciousness (which in my view is rubbish; consciousness exists pre-incarnation, and also when you're dead and buried and the brain has long since been eaten by worms. We don't HAVE consciousness; we ARE consciousness). Please feel free to correct me if I have mis-understood the EFT paradigm.

I did EFT with a therapist for months and it did nothing for me. We are constantly getting mixed messages. On the one hand we are being poisoned and sickened, on the other, it is our responsibility to retrain our nervous system not to respond to these assaults? If we want to not be poisoned by the powers that be, we need our nervous system to be aware of what is being done to us and then respond accordingly. It is not my responsibility to tell my body that its symptoms are wrong. Symptoms are never wrong and never lie.

Thank you so for sharing this, Tami! I tried EFT in some newage workshop many years ago, and it instantly felt wrong. Why did everyone get so hyped up about this 'new panacea'??

And it still seems to be going strong after all these years...

I just don't get it... it's totally contrary to homœopathic philosophy (I'm a classically trained homœopath too)

"Everyone" is pushing "Brain Retraining". I was diagnosed with Electro-hypersensitivity a year ago and even Magda Havas's Electro Sensitive Society tried to tell me I needed Psychotherapy. Complete CRAP! I was practicing meditation when my symptoms started. I have Radiation Sickness PERIOD. The term electro-sensitive puts the burden on me and brain retraining does the same thing. So the people that are irradiating us and poisoning us don't have to take any responsibility. It's all my fault. Well, the Universe was designed perfectly and there is Karma. I don't wish anyone ill but we need to acknowledge when something is wrong. I didn't do this to myself, it was done to me. Sorry for the rant. "They" can only continue with our consent. We need to stop consenting. Brain retraining is a form of consent, IMO. So nice to meet you and thanks for your comment.

what if 'electro-hypersensitivity' is a sign of health?

AGREE! Yes, I have been forced to limit my exposure. I never wanted a SMART phone to begin with. All these technologies have been imposed on us. Hahnemann began practicing before electricity became widespread. When he moved to Paris, he was forced to change his prescribing methods and developed the LM potencies. I believe this is because Paris started to become electrified and changed everything.

We've successfully avoided 'smart phones' so far. Interesting observation about Hahnemann's move to Paris. I never thought about the link to electricity.

However, his world was definitely changing dramatically too at the time, in many ways (a brandnew marriage, new phase in his career, new wave of patients from all over Europe)

In my view, S H was a very creative spirit by nature, continuously refining his therapeutic method. The advent of electricity may have given an impulse to raise his game to a whole new level... Definitely an intriguing and valid thought.

totally agree! Some 'forces' are generating an environment which is increasingly challenging for humans to live in, and the onus is always on the individual to sort out the mess.

I am equally allergic to the term 'reprogramming the mind'. Humans are not computer hardware that needs fixing, and 'the mind' is not software or an OS that needs regular updates (by AI?)

I'm certainly not consenting! Lovely to meet you too!! 💕🙏

"Symptoms are never wrong and never lie." True, they are a signal that something needs attention; they are not the cause. And yet the whole of mainstream (allopathic) medicine is based on the belief that "getting rid of symptoms" is a healthy approach to health.

yup, it's why I practice Homeopathy. Your symptoms are your signs to lead you to the correct remedy.

There is a big problem with EFT never addressed by the proponents: negative emotions are treated as unwelcome intruders and effectively 'switched off'.

This makes EFT (or Tapping) yet another method in a long series of techniques of emotional suppression....

The trouble with Tapping is clearly mentioned by the author in their response to question 2 (and swiftly accepted, as if this was desirable):

"Tapping works by balancing the body's energy system and reducing the stress response in the amygdala, the part of the brain responsible for the fight-or-flight response. By tapping on specific meridian endpoints while focusing on a stressful event or emotion, the amygdala's alarm is deactivated, and the brain and body are reprogrammed to respond differently to the stressor."

Why would anyone want to deactivate their own alarm system?

What if the alarm system is there for a reason?

What if this natural alarm system is not the cause of the problem but intended to make us aware of an underlying issue, which may contain extremely valuable information?

If an alarm system has been "stuck" on for years, turning it off may be appropriate.

this argument is based on a logical fallacy. The human organism is a living system. The only part that is "stuck" is the way of thinking of ourselves as "machines" which can or should be "reprogrammed".

Human emotions have been suppressed for generations. Negative emotions are symptoms of a problem not their causes. Switching them off doesn't solve the problem but pushes it out of sight and ultimately turns people into zombies and psychos.

My wife is a counselor for the past three-decades. She does EMDR, which is in many ways similar.

While "Tapping" may be a great way to rid yourself of illness and negativity, Mr. Ma's Mincurcurology (as taught in his Substack articles) can also lead to better health and a clearer understanding of the universe. For those interested in Qi Gong, the Small Circulation leads the healing qi through the body, energizing the meridians.

That being said, thank you for posting an interesting and thought-provoking explanation of Tapping.

EFT can work wonders, I attest both as a TCM practitioner and with all my naturopathy and personal knowledge. I cannot comprehend all the comments about 'shutting off' emotions and such. Bringing up something that blocks you, hearing yourself saying it, is a clear form of dissolving trauma. You do not block it, you do not shut off your coping mechanism. It;s a nice way to deal with the thing. Plus, using EFT to 'implant' positive affirmations that help you grow and be stronger and thus happier, is a great way to go on with personal healing and development.
