I lost my belief in 'Islamic Terrorists" or any Terrorists, even before 9/11.
It was obvious that groups which could plan "complex" operations were seemingly getting very little return for their investments? The "Targets" were dramatic but, low value.
My first thoughts were wondering why financially valuable strategic targets were never attacked? This led me to believe that the Corporate World was at minimum involved, if not financing these attacks. It took some time before I recognized the corporate control of governments everywhere.
9/11 was a real watershed. An operation of this scale ......and There were no follow-ups??????
Public information had let us know that these "Taliban" and Bin Laden in particular. had been supplied (By CIA) with hundreds of Stingers and other weapons. Yet thousands of sitting duck aircraft were landing and launching unmolested?? The power grid was untouched?? Pipelines, power stations and other infrastructure, was not attacked?? I expected all these things. While not military, I estimated at the time, 'That with a couple of hundred operatives, the US could have been crippled, if not destroyed'??/ Nothing happened?
Eventually, I came to understand that "There are no terrorists."
Excellent piece. I've read 180 Degrees and know Corbett's work on Gladio, so it's good to see a summary here. Interestingly, I just read Two Women in Rome, a novel by Elizabeth Buchan which uses Operation Gladio and the stay-behind army as part of the plot line.
Just a couple of weeks ago a good friend recommended that I read a book it was titled “Operation Gladio”. Nothing really surprised me, but it was still deeply disturbing. Just a couple of chapters in I had the feeling this is going to get out of hand. And of course it did. Now take all that “spook” stuff and over lay the kind of thinking in contemporary times. How hard would it be to convince the “trigger happy moron” spooks that we’ve entered “Overshoot” (look up Limits to Growth 1972 sponsored by the Club of Rome) and we need to “thin the herd”! Check out my video (it’s not monetised) https://rumble.com/v3oap32-lets-talk-about-sustainability-and-thinning-the-herd.html
You might also like "Gladio" by Richard Cottrell, subtitled "NATO's Dagger at the Heart of Europe," sub-subtitled "The Pentagon-Nazi-Mafia Terror Axis." 483 pages in paperback, and very thorough.
I worked for 10 years as a union organizer, working with radicals (usually CP) who had devoted their lives to educating and organizing the public against this kind of thing. They had put in long stints as cannery workers, coal miners, steelworkers, etc., because the best way to organize people is from within.
But, as they would admit, their work and devotion of many decades barely made a dent. After I left union work, I kept thinking about how to organize resistance, and the only thing I've ever come up with is dropping out of the system like the Amish. So I've spent decades living in former mining communities where the cost of living is cheap, the communities are extremely self-sufficient and tight knit, and everyone already knows that The Man is not to be trusted. Their grandfathers and fathers were involved in shooting wars with Pinkertons.
Every time you raise a potato for dinner, you withhold taxes and support for the Gladio types. In the communities where I've lived, people raise virtually all their own food. They get a deer in deer season, a turkey in turkey season, trout in trout season, and never buy any meat. They keep chickens. Their yards, front and back, are entirely given over to fruit trees and vegetable gardens. They make their own wine and beer and moonshine. They're still driving trucks from 1945. For heat in the winter, they get free coal from abandoned mines.
They put in a foundation for a house, with help from the neighbors, then live in that foundation until they have saved enough money to finish building the rest of the house. Houses are passed down in families. No one would ever take out a mortgage.
They wouldn't dream of paying a cable or internet bill, so they never hear the latest government propaganda and are never scared by the latest atrocity. They never locked down during Covid because they never even heard about the lockdowns or Covid. If someone told them about Covid, they laughed. Because they eat wild and home-raised fresh food, they are extremely healthy and don't use the medical system. They don't make enough money to be forced to spend on Obamacare. They are slim and strong. They live long lives.
I became a professional gambler to avoid funding and propping up the system and use the techniques I learned from miners about thrift. There is a lot of satisfaction in stiffing these creeps at the top.
Face it, the Cult-like entitlement of The Elites make an easy justification for any atrocity which supports and continues their status. But, financial wealth is not the only expression of elitism. National identities, religions, athletic and academic prowess, and even less obvious distinctions, all bestow a degree of exclusivity and cause the "Exclusion" of the unwashed?
Fortunately, most of these lower order cults have less motivation to commit the Big Atrocities?
"Stay-behind armies" has a familiar ring to it for me. I don't remember when or where I read about it. It's hard to keep track of all these things I'd rather not even know about. But thank you for the reminder. Ugh.
For anyone interested in more info, Chapter 8 of Tragedy & Hope 101 focuses mainly on Operation Gladio.

Thanks Joe, I knew I had forgotten something! 🤦♂️
And Happy New Year!
I'm really glad we connected this year and I'm appreciate of the interview you did with me.
No problem, man. After a few dozen books, it's hard to keep track of what you read where. After a hundred or so books, forget about it! :-)
I'm glad we connected too, and Happy New Year to you and yours as well.
The subject was so sensitive that the European Union adopted a special resolution: https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/European_Parliament_resolution_on_Gladio
Getting a broken link for "Operation Gladio," BBC Documentary"
They seem to have removed it from the BBC site, I have redirected to the YouTube upload. Thanks.
If you like BBC documentaries you will enjoy John Pilger's reporting on Year Zero. It is excellent. https://johnpilger.com/videos/year-zero-the-silent-death-of-cambodia
Holy crap mate. This is exactly the article I was looking for.
Please excuse my lack of an elegant response.
We are sympatico.
(Thank you for your work).

I think these would be better termed as "Misfit Zealots, who have nowhere else to go, and are therefore cheap to maintain."
