Fantastic post. Here's mine, less comprehensive but condensed: IODINE HAS BEEN TAKEN FROM US, AND TOXIC BROMIDE HAS BEEN SUBSTITUTED

https://robertyoho.substack.com/p/252-when-heroes-are-needed-courageous#details

A quick note about cancer: Brownstein recommends "hundreds" of milligrams a day for glandular cancer such as breast and prostate and says it avidly suppresses these.

Generally, Lies are Unbekoming, the 12.5 mg or maybe 25 mg of Iodoral is a maintenance dose. The 50 mg is typically Dr. Brownstein's loading dose used for one month to help clear the body of bromide, fluoride and chloride.

Your interview with me in April did cover this iodine topic, but it was lengthy with magnesium and pomegranate mixed in. Magnesium and pomegranate would also be helpful for Hashimoto's or other thyroid conditions. https://open.substack.com/pub/unbekoming/p/interview-with-jennifer-depew-rd?r=os7nw&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web .... I do need to finish and publish a book.

Hi Jennifer, it can take up to 2 years of 50mg iodine to fully displace bromide (if not using salt/chloride to speed up its removal). And in today's toxic world, 50mg is a common adult daily dose of iodine to keep up with the environmental stressors; the body needs ~12.5mg daily, with 6mg needed for just thyroid function.

Any excess iodine (once all the lighter halides have been displaced and the body has restored balance from a lifetime without) does not get stored, it gets excreted in urine via kidneys.

Iodine is very safe and the only element that can be taken at doses thousands of times the RDI with no adverse affect (it's at this dosage that potent antioxidant compounds, called iodolipids are produced).

Hope this helps in some way!

I'm so passionate about iodine, it's become the focus of my practice. So exciting to see more people talking about this important issue.

There is a distinction between iodine from seaweed and potassium iodide solution. Which one are you talking about? Potassium iodide solution can be toxic. Iodine from seaweed cannot be overdosed as it has all the necessary cofactors that go with it. Here is the Materia Medica for Kali iodatum aka potassium iodine from Homeopathic Doctor John Henry Clark. Potassium Iodine poisoning has been well documented, https://www.materiamedica.info/en/materia-medica/john-henry-clarke/kali-iodatum

Thanks Erica. I am cautious in part because I did go hyperthyroid and had to limit iodine for a while, but then it seemed like I got hypothyroid again and I have been taking the 12.5 mg now for a few months. So far, so good, not hyperthyroid. I hadn't been using selenium when I went hyperthyroid the first time and gluten was related.

Iodine health is important and is misunderstood or lied about by the mainstream.

Any advice for Gallstones? I was doing Physio for my neck, and one of the exercises popped a Thoracic disc, which was a minor pain, the Abdominal was the breathtaking major pain. MRI showed an unknown left-side hernia and right-side Gallstones. Ultrasound didn't find the hernia, just the Gallstones. And they can forget surgery for both, I know about the mesh and have seen the havoc of Gallbladder removal. I'm drinking Braggs Mothers and taking Milk Thistle. And found a post-surgery/baby Waist Trainer for the Lumbar/Abdominal pain. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER. There were too many conflicting advice articles. As Robert Yoho says, avoid Med Mags. They distort the truth.

The alternative remedy for gallbladder issues that seemed worth trying to me, but I would kind of want to find a practitioner to help me, is a coffee enema. Retain the strong coffee for a bit, then release, and it takes toxins with it and might help clear gallbladder issues.

Another similar approach "For example, a small study published in the American Family Physician found that a “traditional home remedy for inducing gallstone expulsion using olive oil, lemon juice, cascara sagrada and garlic/castile enemas” was effective in eliminating gallstones in 5 out of 6 patients." Brave AI answer - the links are below the summary. https://search.brave.com/search?q=coffee+enema+for+gallstones&source=desktop&summary=1&summary_og=2058dc95fa4a58e57b77d9 This link has a really nice write up - says a few negative reports on coffee enemas were in people who were already severely ill, already in fragile health. https://www.drlindai.com/detox.html That article says just drinking coffee also can stimulate the gallbladder.

I recently started adding Lugols 2% to my electrolyte water and it’s like adding a supercharger to a well tuned engine. The effect was massively dramatic and obvious on day ONE. I am mentioning it to everyone that I speak with. I firmly believe that if the entire population maintained proper Vit D, Magnesium and Iodine levels that most people would be perfectly healthy. Assuming they eat real foods as well. There are other extremely helpful supplements as well. But if those core issues were addressed, a massive number of problems would be solved. I’m sure Anderson Cooper will be addressing this any day now-

Can you please expand on quantities consumed (water & Lugol's)?

I haven’t done any research on dosage. I have a 30 ounce tumbler and I add 4-5 drops. Lugols 2%. I guess it is trial and error. A test is to rub a drop of iodine on your skin. Your akin should stay brown for 4 or 5 hours. If it disappears within an hour, you are deficient. The docs pushing Iodine say that you can have many times the daily recommended allowance safely.

Thanks. I have some Betadine (povidone-iodine 10% w/v) which I obtained to dilute as nose & throat disinfectant at the height of the Covid scare. Do you suppose the skin test would work with this?

Not sure. Likely would work.

As someone who's spent a lot of time over the years researching the issue of iodine and health (going way back to when Stephanie Buist had just completed radiation treatment for her thyroid cancer and had just started working with Dr. Brownstein, her new MD and, later, professional mentor), I think you did a great job with this subject. Bravo! You've packed a great deal of excellent information into one article, and this is a great primer for anyone who's new to all of this.

Your latest article headed 'Iodine' ended up in my junk mail folder. I wonder why??? I have gratefully been collecting all of your valuable work quietly. Even if you don't receive regular comments, please know that you are a blessing to many of us.

🙏 iodine used to be used as disinfectant when milking the cows but then the government said it can no longer be used and you must buy this chemical to sterilise the teat at greater expense

Oh great, is that why doctors are putting patients on low salt diets. I never even considered Iodine and I certainly remember hearing iodized salt is bad for you. I switched some time ago to Himalayan sea salt and nixed Mortons table salt, thinking it made sense. I hope so. I eat all that is recommended in this article and my homeopath never mentioned iodine, but then, I had labs done monthly to check on deficiencies and organ function, so I must have been in range. Good info though, thanks so much.

So I'd read this a while back when researching about fibroids. I tried one and it seemed to make me jittery and hold my breath...more than normal. I'm getting better at not doing that thanks to my homeopathic MD. I also think I was battling other things which he's trying to remedy also. I have since bought the Lugols drops. How should I take that? Sorry if I missed it, but only read about the pill consumption in this article. And I certainly don't have time to read 50 more articles. lol Unfortunately. My doctor did put me on Pregnenolone and that has about got completely rid of the biggest fibroid I had in my breast. The ones in my groin I've had for YEARS are smaller too. I'd seriously cry if they were ever gone. 🙏

DC,

There is a book you should read - “what your doctor doesn’t tell you about menopause” by Dr. John Lee. My doctor and I follow his protocols.

For the iodine, I’m old school. I paint a 2” square on my lower abdomen. If the square disappears in less than an hour you are iodine deficient. If you continue to paint squares daily, they will stay around longer and you will be less deficient. Then you don’t need to paint them as often. 🙂

That's cool! I'm going to try it! Thank you!

I hope you are able to heal from the fibroids!

I had two fibroids growing in my uterus. They got so big (8cm and 16cm) that I had them surgically removed because they were causing many issues. I had been taking Lugol's iodine for months but somehow it did not shrink my fibroids. I hope one day I find more answers why it didn't work for me.

Have you started taking iodine already? I hope it's going well for you!

After listening to a Dr. Nels talk some weeks ago, I decided to take Lithium Orotate. I am finding the liquid form of it to be mood uplifting at small doses. I would like to know about the relationship between Iodine and Lithium Orotate, if there is one. Thanks much. I do plan on getting Dr. Nels book asap.

This is great.. so many nutritional deficiencies cause illness that become a mystery for modern drug therapy. Another epidemic deficiency is B12 that is so widespread even Mayo clinic has a section about effects which includes chronic fatigue and incontinence.. makes all the bladder leak commercials with young parent aged folks in them more of a red flag... check that too!
