Most, if not all, skin lesions are caused by localized infections. There are any number of things that can help: hydrogen peroxide, chlorine dioxide, decolorized iodine, gum spirits of turpentine, coconut oil and probably several more. Reverse osmosis water cleared up a lot of my skin issues.

For more stubborn skin issues, topical application of gum spirits of turpentine (not the stuff sold at Lowe's) has worked best for me. It has solvent properties, in addition to being anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, etc. It has a strong piney smell, but it dissipates fairly quickly.
By the way, don't mix HP with decolorized iodine, as it will cause it to re-colorize.
