When I first read Tom's book, I glossed over Summary point #9, the Capillary System as the True Blood Supply. If you are talking about disease arising from the cellular level this is directly over the target. How can you have proper metabolic function if the blood supply is compromised, and oxygen and nutrients can't get to individual cells?

This is likely to be a big part of Dr. Mercola's forthcoming book, Your Guide to Cellular Health, which he has started taking pre-orders for.

And it is a big reason why improved nitric oxide production has such a profound positive impact on health. The NO dilates those tiniest of capillaries, restoring blood flow to cells that are being undernourished or outright starved to death! It revitalizes every organ in your body! I've been taking an NO supplement since May. The first benefit I noticed (after about 2 months) was greatly improved tolerance for exercises in the heat (a sign of improved heart function). The latest benefit (after five months) appears to be reduction of actinic keratoses on my scalp (a sign of improved liver and/or kidney function). As Jerry Tennant says, these are caused by "bugs having lunch" because of a changed environment in the skin. Our skin is an organ of vicarious elimination - the body tries to excrete toxins through our pores when our liver or kidneys are overwhelmed. It's the toxins that the bugs are having lunch on. It seems pretty much all skins issues have this same cause - the difference appears to be in the type and amount of toxins being eliminated, and in what part of the body they are eliminated.

The one book that I've found that follows up on Tom's insights is Understanding the Heart: Surprising Insights into the Evolutionary Origins of Heart Disease and Why it Matters by Stephen Hussey, DC (2022). When I read it, I thought he had the best understanding and explanation of what causes various forms of heart disease, as he also blends in the work of Thomas Levy and others who are challenging the conventional view (I would say wisdom, but ignorance is closer to the mark).

Thanks for yet another great review. Between you and AMD I have very little time to take on new reading! And your reviews are a far easier way to revisit what I've already read.

Wonderful comment klimer, thank you!

Tenant's Healing is Voltage is one of my favorite health books, along with all of Cowans. Hair and nails are also organs of elimination. BTW - Hair test mineral analysis (HTMA) is the most accurate way to measure mineral ratios and heavy metal levels.

Question about your observation that your scalp's actinic keratoses reduced by using a NO supplement: what specific supplement did you use? My husband has this condition on his scalp, and while it is much improved by several months of spraying Chlorine Dioxide Solution on it, he still has the problem. Can you tell us exactly what you used? Thank you.

Cardio Miracle(.com). It's a bit pricey for just getting rid of AKs, though it should have plenty of other benefits. It's well worth the price for anyone with impaired cardiac function, as it includes the heart failure supplements recommended in The Sinatra Solution.

As for AKs, there are a lot of ways to keep them at bay, but like with CD, they always come back because the cause isn't addressed. Hydrogen peroxide and coconut oil also work well to keep them in check, though coconut oil gets a bit messy. The thing that worked best for me was Pure Gum Spirits of Turpentine (not the stuff at the hardware store, I ordered Creekwood Naturals from Amazon). The piney smell dissipates soon enough (at least if you're retired, like me). ;-)

I had so many AKs that a few times I had dermatologists advise me to use a toxic chemo cream to control them. Nearly $300 for a tiny tube and you had to wear gloves to apply it. Side effects of organ damage, etc. I suspect they would have come back after using that as well.

All I know is that I haven't used anything on them for close to a month now. The worst ones are still there, but they don't seem like they are trying to grow anymore. And the stuff that used to regrow is completely AWOL.

Tonight my husband started an experiment using turpentine on his scalp. How is yours doing?

I was just reading an article about pellagra, and was struck by how the disease is apparent in the sun damaged areas of skin. The cure is niacin, and CM contains niacin. The article states that niacinamide (or nicotinamide) can repair sun damage. I've ordered an inexpensive cream that also contains Vitamin C, to see if that is the answer to my stubborn patch.

The Cardio Miracle keeps 95% of them at bay. The most stubborn area is on the crown of my head. I'll hit that with 3% hydrogen peroxide now and then. I might switch to turpentine and see if it works any better.

Sure would be nice to see an article on the spiritual aspect of health, instead of so much emphasis on the material realm solutions. Seems like the answer to question 4 starts to go there ... then we're sent right back to figuring everything out from our material, worldly perspective.

One pathway might be to investigate the works of Swedenborg. He also emphasized the importance of the 3-fold makeup of all things.

"According to Swedenborg, three means being complete and perfect, or containing all aspects at once. This number appears many times within the Bible, but perhaps the most recognizable instance is when Jesus rose on the third day after his death. This completeness can be expressed worldwide or on a personal scale."

What I don't know is a lot...

But it strikes me that we have largely ignored the parasympathetic nervous system and its interaction with the sympathetic nervous system in the development of many diseases. I really had no idea about this other than as a toxin

I'll tell you what mate, you are one of if not the most undervalued substacks on this platform.

Always touching on my to investigate when I have more time.

Thanks mate

I especially like answers to #24 and #37 about the benefits of Earthing.

I have a highly sensitive nervous system, sensitive to EMFs, and emotionally sensitive - empathic. Earthing grounds me; it feels like a whole body exhale, like everything is gonna be alright.

Especially like Cowan's idea here: "We need to find a new paradigm that combines scientific understanding with a deep connection to our environment." Our medical institutions have become - at best - a priesthood of corrupt scientism, and as Cowan further points out, "There are many aspects of human experience - love, consciousness, the sense of self - that science struggles to explain or measure. We need to recognize that other ways of knowing, including direct experience, intuition, and traditional wisdom, have value." I think that the new paradigm Cowan mentions will have to be nature-centered and act as a filter with respect to technology: filtering out human tech that results in imbalances in nature, culture, and in our bodies.
