When I examined red light therapy, it looked great. Whitten's book was adulatory. He seems to have affiliate links to all the red light manufacturers, which give commissions up to possibly 30 percent of the device prices. (Medication affiliate links that most chiropractors use can generate up to nearly 50 percent of the sales prices!)

I bought the Sauna Space $1500 set of four lights. These have near-infrared, which is the frequency range with proven effects, plus some far IR, which is primarily heat. They are designed for heating a small space sauna-style as well as exposing the occupant to the IR. My thoughts about the sauna health benefits studies was that they are less well proven than the IR effects.

Anyway, I have personally seen fewer benefits than Whitten or other authors claim, and my functional doctor friends concur from their experience with near IR.

I just bought a contact-with-skin near IR device and will report on that soon at the end of one of my posts. An expert I interviewed in person in Spain said that contact devices penetrated farther and were much more effective than pure irradiation devices like Sauna Space's. They claim up to 8 cm of body penetration.

I'm your fan, dude!

I concur with Dr. Yoho's comments. My wife seems to get some benefit from our red light system, but likely less than advertised. And there's no really concrete way to quantify the benefits. We're retired, can afford the system, and have the time to use it. I don't think the benefits received are in line with the cost for us, and probably not for most other people. Reverse osmosis and grounding both have clearly observable results and require a smaller investment. I suspect the one direct benefit of red light therapy is that it is likely to improve the charge differential of blood and other fluids that AMD describes as zeta potential - it improves the ability of those fluids to circulate and not agglutinate. As AMD has pointed out, there are other ways to achieve that with hardly any capital cost and ongoing costs that nearly everyone can afford.

Nothing compares to the SUN...I've been out in peak sun (11am to 1pm) almost fully skin (obviously after getting a base tan with zinc as my only protection - took 2 days) for the last 10 days and EVERYTHING IS BETTER.

Kudos to you for your recent efforts at educating yourself and others on how to avoid a healthcare system that has run amok. I've been doing that for 20 years, and I'm fortunate to still have better health than a large majority of my age cohort, which I attribute to those efforts.

The real issue with the healthcare system is that it is monopolistic, particularly in regard to reimbursement by health insurance. This is the main mechanism of control by the Rockefeller cartel to trap you in their profit generating scheme disguised as healthcare. The solution is to invest in your health, so that you do not require their monopoly. That way, only emergencies can ensnare you into their system, as only they are ordained by our government to provide those specific procedures often required in a case of acute trauma or sudden loss of health. You will incur upfront costs that we would all prefer to avoid, but it will nearly always pay dividends far in excess of your investment.

A Midwestern Doctor's article of March 10th about which water to drink may be one of the main pillars of health preservation. After all, preserving liver and kidney function is a key in eliminating toxins that can disrupt health. Less toxic load results in your body being better able to respond to new environmental threats in a more timely manner.

I bought a red light therapy panel from infraredi about 18 months ago and use it most days. I hoped it would help my DOMS but I didn’t notice any difference. I currently have plantar fasciitis and a torn shoulder labrum and am using it for those but can’t say if I’d be healing any slower without it. The only thing I noticed was that, according to my Fitbit, I now have a normal amount of REM sleep as opposed to my previous deficiency ( I have an above average amount of deep sleep)!

Alex Fergus does good videos on YouTube reviewing all the latest products and he usually has a discount code too.

Grounding has been proven to reduce DOMS, and that seems to be my personal experience as well. See The Earthing Movie on YouTube, or find the link at Earthing.com.

I have a Platinum LED red light system, but I've never heard a claim that it reduced DOMS.

Okay, forgive me for not knowing...but what is grounding?!

Expand full comment

Look for The Earthing Movie on YouTube. It's basically connecting to the free flow of negative ions from the earth. Neg ions neutralize free radicals. It seems as though any source of neg ions is beneficial.

Thank you! I'll look into that.

I do grounding in the summer ( I'm in the UK!) but nothing seems to help.

Doing great work. Is there a brand model you recommend?

Have you tried a grounded pad for your bed? 8 hours of daily grounding is better than sporadic grounding. But it is a bit of an investment, and it will work best with 100% cotton sheets. You probably want a product tester as well, to assure that everything truly is grounded and working as intended.

IR sauna + niacin flushes daily for a month gave me near perfect blood work.

Expand full comment

I wonder if the niacin is needed to provide electrons to realise the full benefits of the light.

Expand full comment

The niacin flush releases fat soluble toxins and the sauna helps you sweat the toxins out.

Excellent review on the actions of light on the human body. I'll make an add note here..UBI has activity on over 700 different issues that happen with organisms, virus and mycoplasmas affecting the human body. I work with UBI and Ozone.

Any reliable review sites for devices?

Well the Germans made the Umetron, Longevity made devices in British Columbia, Russians made the Isolda Devices. There are many more now that make UBI and or Ozone machines around the world.

Does anyone know about LED red light therapy being less effective? I saw a reel on Instagram by the cultivate elevate guy saying something to that effect.

May be this therapy has something with red light street in Holland?

Expand full comment

A bit. Red light has been scientifically tested and proven to reduce mortality and increase lifetime expectancy in pedestrians worldwide. The studies installations included three lights (green, amber and red) activated sequentially. While green and amber did not show any noticeable variability in human survival, red light contributed extremely to the increased survivability. The observations unanimously proved both correlation and causation between the presence or absence of red light and the following health risk incidents. In many cases, the subjects were literally saved from extreme injuries or fatal consequences when red light was activated.

Incidentally, this effect has not been confirmed for human subjects travelling in vehicles. The scientist suspect that it may be the consequence of the shielding effect of vehicle structures. Also, this correlation was noticeably lower in the medical settings in which bicycles and motorbikes were used in the quantities dominating car transport, often even despite the complete absence of the light fixtures with the analyzed light sets (evidence: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4phFYiMGCIY&ab_channel=TheRedPlanet).
