The exemption is the same as it is in NZ. Self declared and you're not required to tell anyone why you have the exemption. Still run into the occasional zealot though, who thinks they have the right to the last 30 years of your medical history.

Here in NSW, only the cops have the power to ask for it. Not why, though!

(Rich, for the first time, I followed a vote card. UAP! Never heard of some minor parties. However, I actually agreed with most of their choices anyway.)

I wonder how many teal voters are following the Teal vote cards.

Thanks. True. I don't follow Aussie politics. No time. Lame. Teal = Labor in disguise. Said that in front of a Labor volunteer today. Proofs? Look at the voting records of those teals in Wutoria and just recently in South Aust. They know that outing themselves as Labor would not be good for them. I suspect there are some teals i UAP. I came across a female UAP candidate complaining that the Party preferenced Lib before Labor! And she has those looks to boot! They did not have the time to do a proper vetting.

Here's all the Teals. Simon Holmes A'Court is behind it, probably with further backing from Soros et al.

Nyet! For the House, we had to number every box; for the Senate, 6 boxes above the line.

Yes but the Teal candidates have been leaving everything below 1 for the voters to decide. There are some reports that some of the voters are only putting #1 in.

LOL!

I dare anyone to debate me that democracy exists and is the best we can have.

We can comm via emails. This is off-topic!

Being prepared for the possibility of a confrontation is exactly right. That’s how I felt walking through the shopping mall without a mask. People looking at me and I’m wondering why, is it strange seeing someone’s whole face, are they aghast that I dare to walk around maskless spreading Covid everywhere, do they secretly wish they had no mask on? But inside I’m thinking, come on, ask me. Rehearsing what I’ll say. I just smiled openly at everyone and I hoped my eyes were saying, come on, you can too.

Nice, that's good practice for the disagreeable muscle :)

I got my stat dec in Sep 2021 signed by a JP at a police station! I walked in with the form and no mask. That lady JP gave me one after I was forced to use a thin cotton cloth as a bandit-style mask! I had to put it on before she would accede to my request. She had that Karen persona. Once I exited, I took it off. I am 100% she watched me.

On the way there a babe cop who came out of a newsagency was surprised that I was unmasked and did not even attempt to evade her. Actually I was looking for a cop to sign my stat dec! Instead, she looked at it and directed me to the local station. She was surprised that I actually read the actual PH order!

Nice! Love that you did it at the police station...in their face!!

I’m thrilled to hear you’re reading “The Gulag Archipelago” (don’t you adore Solzhenitsyn’s wickedly dry gallows humor?). I could never bring myself to read an abridged version of anything as I’d worry about what I missed, but if it’s a choice between reading and not reading it, I suppose it would do :-)

BTW, I finally read “The Moth in the Iron Lung,” and you were right—that makes a powerful myth-busting followup to “Dissolving Illusions”! I’m now well on my way to being a bona fide anti-vaxxer 😆

I know what you mean about abridged versions, in this one's defence Aleksandr gave it his blessing. Having said that I'm going to buy the full three volumes, just on principle and have that on the shelf.

Yes, Maready is a very rare creature that can turn complex science into riveting story. Amazing book!

Wow, that's great to know he approved it! If reading any abridged version is justified, this certainly qualifies given the length of the original. Fortunately, I listened to the audiobook BC (Before COVID) so didn't feel the same urgency I would now and was able to listen over the course of several months.

The worst that can happen is that you end up putting a mask on after being asked. I would recommend going in prepared for 3 strikes. See if you can weather 3 mask requests. It is very unlikely you will get 3 but being ready for 3 means you are expecting at least one. If it gets too much, then just pull out your mask and all tension gone. :)

I've done it too. Will write a post on it Tuesday.

Worth a try, thanks for your suggestions. The alternative is wearing a mask for 6-7 hours (counting airport time), the thought of which does not fill me with joy.

My experience is that you don't have to.

Quite frankly, we wouldn't be even having this discussion, you would never have written this Substack and I would never be reading said piece, IF more damn people were ok with being "disagreeable". FFS if people had embraced their Billy Eylish (Bad guy) more often prior to 2019, then it would have been bloody impossible for pint sized despots and wanna-be tingods to flex their bureaucratic stress balls!!

I teach yoga and even after the last few years, people still run away from sitting in the uncomfortable, even when they know it's actually doing them good. Its sad, incredibly childish and for the rest of us that have put on their grown up pants, as a part of life and adulting, it's straight up frustrating as all get out. #soSNAFUicanteven

Oddly. I've never come across any journo or social media pundit mentioning the stat dec. How curious....
