Brilliant!

This goes a good way to my direct experience, as a boy of ten years old I counted 43 warts on my left hand.

An observant adult offered me an half crown ( pounds, shillings and pence) to buy them from me, that was a huge deal to a boy of ten. A big silver coin of about two inches in diameter and several weeks pocket money.

No hesitation and so took his money, I was so excited about the coin.

The next day all the warts… gone!

Blissninja's avatar

Same! Both of my hands were completely covered when I was a kid, for years. Only my hands though. About age 10/11 my grandfather who I didn’t see very often happened to notice them. He acted like they were so amazing he wanted to buy them….,,He offered me a nickel for each wart…..( sounded so ridiculous that he wanted to buy my warts🤣) but of course I accepted. Much time passed by without me having actually thought about them again, and when I did remember about the warts , they were all gone, every one. I always , even then, felt it was almost like a hypnosis …because for some reason I had not thought about them or paid any attention after he paid me..,, and then they were just gone…when they disappeared I don’t know, but I have never had another one.

Jane Vickery's avatar

Similar thing happened to me when I was 14. Our family solicitor (and also family friend) bought my warts for 50 cents. They all disappeared within days (and notably I didn’t believe it would work!!!)

Does it work for politicians?

:Stuart-james.'s avatar

Unfortunately no.

What happened to me became a puzzle that I have wrangled with, and this it seems is more prolific than I realised.

The pattern it seems is the innocence of the child that in their faith can manifest change.

Politicians are beyond innocence and so cannot manifest change, they can only manipulate the public emotion and serve their employer. No government / politician in my lifetime has ever delivered. They talk the talk but do not walk the walk!

🤣🎭 PEER REVIEW PANEL: HPV EDITION — WARTS ‘N ALL™ 🎭🤣

(A completely fictional satire. Any resemblance to the avoidance of the scientific method is… entirely intentional 😌🦶)

🧑‍⚖️ CHAIRPERSON:

Alright everyone, welcome. Today’s paper: “Definitive Isolation of Human papillomavirus from Warts (Probably)”

Let’s proceed…

🧑‍🔬 VIROLIEGIST:

Thank you. As you can see from Figure 7, we have successfully isolated HPV from plantar warts

🧑‍⚖️ CHAIRPERSON:

Excellent. How did you isolate it?

🧑‍🔬 VIROLIEGIST:

We combined wart scrapings, antibiotics, antifungals, nutrient-deprived media, and cultured cells 🧫💥

🧑‍⚖️ REVIEWER A:

So… you didn’t isolate it

🧑‍🔬 VIROLIEGIST:

No no—modern isolation means assembling a community experience

🧑‍⚖️ REVIEWER B:

Ah yes, like isolating a potato by turning it into stew 🥔🍲

🧑‍⚖️ CHAIRPERSON:

Proceed

🧑‍🔬 VIROLIEGIST:

After stressing the cells until they deteriorated, we observed a cytopathic effect and attributed it to HPV

🧑‍⚖️ REVIEWER A:

Did you run controls?

🧑‍🔬 VIROLIEGIST:

We ran… circular reasoning as our primary control

🧧‍♂️ ETHICS OBSERVER:

No controls

🧑‍🔬 VIROLIEGIST:

Controls risk clarity

🧑‍⚖️ CHAIRPERSON:

And the imaging

🧑‍🔬 VIROLIEGIST:

Here are our electron micrographs 📸

You’ll notice several compelling… shapes

🧑‍⚖️ REVIEWER B:

I see cellular debris

🧑‍🔬 VIROLIEGIST:

Look again—we added arrows 🔺➡️🔻

🧑‍⚖️ REVIEWER A:

You’ve annotated grey blobs

🧑‍🔬 VIROLIEGIST:

Exactly. Viral fragments… premium grade, arrow-certified 🔺

🧑‍⚖️ CHAIRPERSON:

Very compelling

🧑‍⚖️ REVIEWER B:

Did you purify anything?

🧑‍🔬 VIROLIEGIST:

We purified the narrative

🧑‍⚖️ REVIEWER A:

And causation?

🧑‍🔬 VIROLIEGIST:

Wart present ➡️ HPV mentioned ➡️ causation implied

🧑‍⚖️ REVIEWER B:

Correlation, then

🧑‍🔬 VIROLIEGIST:

Correlation… with an eye on funding and a hand on the grant form 💰

🧑‍⚖️ CHAIRPERSON:

What about the fact that warts often disappear on their own

🧑‍🔬 VIROLIEGIST:

Immune system

🧑‍⚖️ REVIEWER A:

And when they come back

🧑‍🔬 VIROLIEGIST:

Persistent infection

🧑‍⚖️ REVIEWER B:

And when they vanish after a folk remedy… or, say… a grandmother’s hands 👵✨

🧑‍🔬 VIROLIEGIST:

We classify that under… “do not engage”

🧑‍⚖️ CHAIRPERSON:

Wise. Very wise

🧧‍♂️ BIOSECURITY LIAISON:

Before we proceed—does this support a broader framework

🧑‍🔬 VIROLIEGIST:

Absolutely. Because too much depends on warts being ‘viral’—

a diagnostic category 📋

a Quackccine programme 💉

a Harmaceutical pipeline 💰

and an entire infrastructure of dermatological intervention 🏥

—all balanced delicately… on a bump on the foot 🦶

🧑‍⚖️ CHAIRPERSON:

Ah… the full ecosystem

🧑‍⚖️ REVIEWER A:

So if the premise wobbles… the whole thing wobbles

🧑‍🔬 VIROLIEGIST:

Which is why it doesn’t wobble… officially 😌

🧑‍⚖️ REVIEWER B:

Wise. Very wise

🧑‍⚖️ CHAIRPERSON:

Any final evidence

🧑‍🔬 VIROLIEGIST:

Yes—these papers on the isolation of other ‘viruses’

As you can see, they cite each other extensively

And the small print confirms… everyone reviewed everyone

🧑‍⚖️ REVIEWER A:

So, to wrap up… no isolation, no controls, no direct causation

🧑‍⚖️ CHAIRPERSON:

But a master class in begging the question

🧑‍⚖️ REVIEWER B:

And very clear arrows 🔺

🧑‍⚖️ CHAIRPERSON:

Motion to approve

🧑‍🔬 ALL:

APPROVED ✅👏👏👏

🧑‍⚖️ CHAIRPERSON:

Another ‘viral’ condition explained—warts and all—

not by certainty but by consensus, confidence

and exceptionally well-placed arrows 😌🔺🦠

LOL 😂 Cheers for the wonderful feedback 👍 I’ll do it—on one condition: they bring evidence that adheres to the scientific method 😏

When I was 10 I had 12 “warts” on the bottoms of my feet. After a discussion with my mother about what was worrying me (worry warts!!) they all fell off in the bath tub that night

CynthiaB's avatar

Yes! My sister Gwennie had terrible warts and one in particular on her thumb pad that would catch and bleed. Grandma found her crying about it. So Grandma sat w her, spit on her finger before she pressed it hard on the wart and Grandma and Gwennie prayed. The next day, the wart fell off, and the rest of the warts disappeared.

Maybe we could uniform, gear and train grannies—oh, and pay them $65k—to fight evil warts around the country! It would be best if the grannies would train others how to be so powerful, effective and fiercely loving. What a great country we would be. I’m not kidding.

Daphne Jones's avatar

Great article, but I wish you had emphasized direct sunlight as the #1 healer of these kinds of maladies. The sun pulls out all kinds of “rot” from your system. You just need to learn how to do it safely.

Bubba's avatar

energy healing is as old a humanity. The AMA calls it “quackery” because they haven’t figured out how to patent it, or train for it - let alone a billing code. Bravo!

John Orban's avatar

I had the same damn thing happen to me. When I was a kid, I had a wart on my first finger knuckle. I don't remember how old I was but, probably, twelve or so. I was visiting my grandmother who had an old black man who worked as a handyman for her. I was in a barn at her house with "Cornbread." He looked at my wart and asked me if I wanted him to get rid of it. I told him, yes. He took my hand and touched the area around the wart. He circled the wart with his finger while saying some words I couldn't understand. Within a week the wart was gone. It had been on my knuckle for at least a year. It really freaked me out.

jacquelyn sauriol's avatar

I have had planters warts a few times in my life, some resolved on their own. I have also used the duct tape treatment on them with success (30 days were needed). It would be interesting to see an assessment of the skin around a wart, to see if it had a toxic load of some kind, perhaps varying types of toxins appear. It's a relief to see that warts are not a viral thing, and really nothing else is either. So much time, money and lives lost pursuing nonexistent viral enemies.

added later; Once I learned how our weight is significantly bacteria, have heard 25-50%, and

how life depends on the balance of bacteria's and other substances in the system. Killing all

that off is such a bad idea. Bodies respond so much more successfully to whole plant medicines,

and unwanted bacteria's are more successfully reduced or eliminated. Plants are our elders, they know more about living with bacterias than we ever could. Gillions of years more experience.

I recently developed a couple of warts. One on the edge of my right ear and the other under my left eye. I soaked them in apple cider vinegar and they shrivelled immediately until they were dried out. They disappeared after a couple of days, presumably fell off.

tRuth's avatar

Gonna try on a ghastly blighter on the ball of my foot. At least 2.5yrs. Tried home cryogenics, oregano, and now 90% DMSO gel. Everyone I've ever recommended the latter to had success/results. What's with my body?

ACV tonight/tomorrow, as it's cheap, in the cupboard, while no one is interested in buying it out. Fingers crossed.

Frances Leader's avatar

2.5 years? Wow! This one is a lodger! Best wishes with the ACV. Mine dried up very fast and went quite crusty before it dropped off. Let me know what your experience is, please!

tRuth's avatar

Ok, i certainly will let you know. I did have an appointment sorted for Plasma Pen session, but quarter of an hour into the appointment, therapist in the back with another client, had taxi booked to save probably painful walk, she refused to treat only one smaller ward in the other foot, with no impact on walking, (more profitable for her i guess, she did refund my deposit. Now, I'm convinced the treatment would not have worked, won't be returning.

Also, very little to actually drop off, it seems to be a root like structure (maybe an open sewer).

Plus forgot mention, consistently used colloidal silver over 6-8 months.

Really need to believe the ACV sorts once and for all. So, then it will. 🥰

Frances Leader's avatar

If it has a root then it may be a verruca, surely?

tRuth's avatar

They are my thoughts now! It did have a bulbous outer growth that fell off, without drying or shrivelling. It is recently it changed, not giving off the exterior growth, although i don't see the dark spot in it. Going to get that ACV out right now.

Frances Leader's avatar

I have no idea whether ACV will be effective against a verruca which has been in situ for so long. I treated two facial warts within days of them appearing.... literally two or three days!

I would try soaking a small pad in ACV, placing it over the verruca or wart and covering it with waterproof plaster so that the moisture does not escape or dry out. Depriving it of air seems to be successful. I have read that covering it with duck-tape is great for sealing it.

I know your a busy substacker but if your going to cover warts you got to let Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer weigh in:

We got dead cat therapy:

Dead Cat Therapy (The Gold Standard 😂)

From Tom Sawyer

Protocol:

Take a dead cat to a graveyard at midnight

Wait for the devil (or devils) to come take away a corpse

When they do, throw the cat after them and say something like:

“Devil follow corpse, cat follow devil, warts follow cat, I’m done with ye!”

Theory (according to Tom & Huck):

The warts get transferred along the chain—corpse → devil → cat → gone.

👉 This is peak folk logic: sympathetic magic + spooky timing.

and let's not forget the Stump Water Remedy

The Stump Water Remedy

Protocol (as Tom explains it):

Find an old tree stump in the woods with a hollow that has collected rainwater

Go there at night (of course)

Stick your hand into the water

Say a kind of charm (something along the lines of wishing the warts away)

Then walk away without looking back

As far as I know I had warts twice. Both times the doctor told me it was microbial - once from running barefoot in the swimming pool, mom used a silvery stick that burnt them off, I wore rubber shoes and they did not come back. The second time I bought a pair of shoes, and every time I wore them, I had warts. The doctor advised me to get rid of the shoes, the warts never came back.

Mom told me that when she was young she had warts on her hands, and they used this silvery stick on it as well, and they did not come back either.

I notice though that in the US other things are considered 'warts', some that in Europe we call raised birth marks are one. I have several of these and was told not to mess with them, and I don't.

Rosemary Caho's avatar

Wow! Very interesting. It made me wonder if something similar may be involved in the development of lipomas beneath the skin.

Geoff's avatar

That's a great question!

Fibro Vision's avatar

Could you do something on psoriasis, seems to me that it's largely stress induced. I won't use steroids or the other nasties.

INGRID C DURDEN's avatar

a long time ago a colleague got rid of hers by using that black, rather unpleasants smelling salve, I think it is petroleum based. It came back a few times, she said, but every time smaller and she would treat it again and finally it stopped coming back.

Fibro Vision's avatar

I've seen black salve but never used it. Will have a look.

We're all living in flight or fight mode so it's hard to calm the system these days. So help to calm it at least alleviates some of the additional stress from it

Lynda Hill's avatar

May I weigh in here with my short reply ? my husband suffered from psoriasis over pretty much all of his body as a young adult and expensive medications/ creams were inadequate. no cure for it then nor now, I believe. he heard the naturopath Dr Bragge recommend cutting out all dairy from the diet, fried foods, sugar and salt. That was about all I think and I scoffed as his diet contained so little of any of these foods, other than milk. But as he was desperate he said he was going to follow the recommendations and within a few -maybe less - weeks all symptoms had disappeared never to return again even over the past sixty years of eating and drinking those same foods again. The 'remedy' is just too simple for most folk to accept unfortunately and so I can't give you other instances.

DChase's avatar

You might want to look into DMSO and/or ozonated oil. Both these non-patentable substances are known to be effective for psoriasis (and a whole lot more.)

Duchess's avatar

Agree, just brilliant. Thank you Unbekoming..as always, I'm fascinated every time I read you..and so thought provoking.

Most "skin conditions" are results of the body's detox system, unless local damage has been done to the skin.

Dermatologists are the laughing stock among "doctors," who usually fail to realize that their compartmentalized "knowledge" is not any better...

My daughter developed terrible warts on her thumbs all around her nails…once we found out she had celiac disease - and cut out gluten completely - the warts went away and never returned!
