Written in November 2020 as a Twitter thread. It is May 2021 as a publish this, and we are still under mask restrictions.
NSW has conducted almost 3.3m tests so far and “found” 4,309 “cases”
That equals 0.13%
It made me think about the False Positive Rates of the tests they are using
Tests
At the bottom of this page you will find the different locations and the tests they are using:
https://www.pathology.health.nsw.gov.au/covid-19-info/covid-19-testing-information
“Assay” simply means Test
A common test (assay) that is being used is BD SARS-CoV-2
There is no mention on the NSW Gov site of anything to do with false positives
BD SARS-CoV-2
BD stands for Becton Dickinson
A listed 70 Billion USD company that is one of the largest players in the COVID testing business

FDA
The FDA issued an alert about their tests based on self-reporting by BD that their false positive rate was 3%
The typical false positive rate for these tests is between 0.5% - 1.5%
So, 3% is very high!
TGA
Yet our Therapeutic Goods Administration has approved the test
There are 112 approved test kits

Questions
That no journalist is asking
What is the Cycle Threshold being used for all our published “cases”
What is the FPR: False Positive Rate for each and every approved test
Why are 41 of the 112 approved test made in China?
NSW numbers again
If we assume the low end of False Positive Rates of 0.5%
And you conduct 3,291,081 tests
You can expect up to 16,455 false positives
If you in fact have 4,309 as we do on NSW
That means the vast majority are likely to be false positives
And if you then take into account that the CT value of each test is above 30 (at least 38) then ALL “cases” in NSW are almost certainly false and meaningless.
