The world is not what you thought, yet you have no way to truly know what it is, (though no shortage of theories exist) and we can still live. Many will deny as it's not the easy way. It reminds me that their are many minds sharing ideas that are not openly accepted, and perhaps one day I might meet some.
Since the second or third century, the holy fathers of the Orthodox Church have developed a rich literature regarding the spirits of the other world and have documented many many encounters with spiritual beings. It would be very useful for you to become familiar with this literature in however small a way, as it provides insight both into the nature of this spiritual battle, and how to defend oneself. The best place to start is with the works of Seraphim Rose. The books to read are _Orthodoxy and the future of religion_, which deals with encounters with UFOs and aliens/beings that present themselves as being from other worlds, and _The Soul after death_, which addresses the entities that people encounter in out of body and near-death experiences.

If I may share some really helpful advice from David McCready's book on The Great Simulator . The 'voices' he calls the 'special effects guys', he refers to how busy they are especially as we settle to sleep, producing negative thoughts and worrying topics that often lead to sleeplessness. His advice was to thank them for all the hard work these little guys do in keeping us stuck in the illusion of this reality. Thank them and say 'but now its time for my sleep'. It works; just bless it all and thank your Angels and Guides.
The whole work of Rudolf Steiner and his anthroposophy presents in scientific terms all of these concepts. I find it more comprehensive. But as any scientific work that delves into human history etc it covers very complex themes.
What I read here is a bastardized version, an upside down version of what Steiner reveals in his many volumes of lectures on the topic of where we came from, why, and who exactly are all these "entities" modern culture has chosen to call aliens. He warns about such bastardized versions of reality poisoning the slumbering mind of humanity and calls for us to wake up.
He offers us a sweeping and yet detailed view of our beginnings and where we are headed, of the order in the Cosmos and our own human earthly order and much more. In detail and looked at from various perspectives.
He is so mind-blowing with the scope of what he could deliver! But, like any new science, his work is difficult to read for most people who are used to summarized and elementary versions of ideas, and so people are put off by the complexity of the concepts and the language. This is not strange, after all, the average person can't read quantum physics easily - and Steiner's work goes way beyond what modern science can grasp today.
For those who might want to dip into Steiner's version of the above, you could pick up his book "Occult History" and see the limited ideas of modern thought about these matters unfold in multilayered cosmic descriptions of what happened and how to get us to where we are today.

I suspect that since the advent of language human brains have evolved to think almost exclusively in symbolic and metaphorical ways. They do so in such a powerful way that most mistake the metaphors for reality. The universe is merely consciousness, including everything we call matter. Archons and feeders, angels, devils, and aliens are all figments of that consciousness.

The Lord Jesus Christ and those who act in His name are the only people in recorded history who have had authority over these entities, who are described as fallen angels or demons in the Bible. Christians have been fighting victorious battles against these things for millennia. It's funny to me that people grasp for straws to unsuccessfully understand, define and combat these things when the answers have been available to them the whole time, down the street at their local church. Another step in my journey has been taken. I just finished, My Big Toe by Campbell and this fits in quite well as my discovery of the big picture expands each day. Sadly he died in '17. Logic errata....the cow would not exist as 'a cow' in the first place without our breeding it specially as a milk producer. The entirety of it's being has been formed around our needs. As I have been doing some work on a dairy farm this week, I am milking cows for the first time in my life. I can say that their dependence on us to do everything for them makes for a very unnatural relationship, but the cow as we now know it could simply not exist without humans. They would all be dead quite quickly, and that's on us, for breeding them so.

Large exceptions are, perhaps, most felines and most equines that haven't been bred to fad appeal (i.e. dwarfism, giantism, hairlessness). But most endure slavery/imprisonment. Many of the most horrendous products of human greed and desire (Meat chickens, Pugs, English Bulldogs, Persian cats, Mini-anything) suffer physically to a great degree all of their lives; a degree which their owners cannot or do not wish to comprehend.
I don't think that's entirely so, Jacqueline. Longhorn cattle, for instance, escaped into the wilds of Texas centuries ago, and survived. Mustang horses and chickens are other examples. Those species came to trust humans to a degree. Enslaved, in a sense, but of different. There's no law that says slaves need to be abused.
In order to effectively run this world, you need sociopaths. You need to create them or find them, and you need a mythology that creates order around the sociopathic practices and practitioners. Sociopaths are by nature prone to chaos. Dark rituals, dark mythologies, dark ecstasies. Control mechanisms, conditioning, boundaries; this group needs them as much as the masses. And a mythology that the world is a farm for demonic forces and that your purpose is to generate suffering to feed them fits the bill. The world of men is hell, but this World is not. Is the natural state of the world order or chaos? This is intuitive. The natural state is clearly order. Creation has ecstatic beauty and order. Humanity would find balance within the natural order of creation if allowed. But then things would necessarily settle into relative equality, the hidden hand doesn’t want this. The chaos must be generated, that’s how it works, at least currently. Why do you think there are so many bullshit philosophies that are obscuring the beauty of creation and its natural order?
